Our Afterschool Art Program is designed to help students truly learn and understand artistic mediums rather than simply complete individual projects.
Throughout the school year, students explore a variety of artistic disciplines while developing confidence, technique, and creative problem-solving skills.
Mediums We Explore
Painting (watercolor, acrylic, ink)
Drawing (pencil, charcoal, markers, oil pastels)
Sculpture (clay and recycled materials)
Mixed Media (foam, thread, clay, and combined materials)
Creative Exploration and visual problem-solving
Rather than moving quickly from project to project, students spend multiple classes working within a specific medium or artistic concept. This allows them to become comfortable with the materials while steadily building their artistic skills.
Class Structure
Each class is thoughtfully designed to balance skill development with creative expression.
15-Minute Skill Exercise
Every class begins with a guided exercise focused on foundational techniques. These activities help students strengthen their skills, retain information, and build artistic confidence.
40-Minute Hands-On Project
Students then apply those techniques through a creative project related to the current theme or medium. During this time, instructors provide personalized guidance and encouragement throughout the creative process.
5-Minute Clean-Up & Pick-Up
Students help organize their workspace, prepare artwork for pick-up, and reflect on what they created during class.
Why It Works
This consistent structure allows students to practice, apply, and reinforce their skills every week, creating a strong foundation for long-term artistic growth.
Perfect For
Students who want to develop real artistic skills while exploring a wide variety of creative mediums, techniques, and artistic concepts.
